Creatures of the Joy Realm Part 2

Moss Fox

Deep within the woods of the Joy Realm, where growing things quietly spin magic we miss in the waking world, there is a fallen tree covered in mushrooms and moss. You see, when trees fall in the Joy Realm, they are left alone so that other things might live within them even as they die.

If we wait quietly nearby, one such creature will appear. She has two ears, a nose like a dog’s, and whiskers that twitch while she sniffs the ground. Her fur is red, but right around the middle of her back bright green moss grows all the way around her tail, with tiny flowers that bloom.

The moss grows because she moves slowly and patiently through the forest, listening to the wind and watching the small creatures that live under the leaves and stones.

Moss Fox makes her den within the fallen log, and during the day, she explores the Joy Realm. She knows every hidden path, every cave, and where the best food grows. She knows where the moon will rise and where it will set, every single day.

She can take you to the best swimming hole, and show you the Napping Tree.

When children wander into their own imaginary worlds, Moss Fox quietly walks beside them, making sure they never lose the path home. She waits for them every day, and sometimes they see her, quietly watching while they play.

Moss Fox is the guardian of play. She protects imagination fiercely.

If you look carefully, very closely, you might see her watching just beyond the edge of your world.
