Pebble Bear

Along the edges of the rivers in the Joy Realm, where the water moves slowly over smooth stones, there lives a small bear made for quiet places.
The rivers there do not rush. They move gently, shaping each pebble over time, turning rough edges into something soft and steady.
If you sit long enough beside the water, you may see him.
He is Pebble Bear, and his magic is in the quiet moments.
He walks slowly along the riverbanks, pausing now and then to pick up a stone. Not just any stone, but the ones that have been worn smooth by time and water. The ones that feel good when held in your hand.
He carries them tucked close to him, one by one, until he finds just the right place to leave them.
Sometimes he leaves them along the paths of the Joy Realm. Sometimes he keeps them. And sometimes, when the moment calls for it, he carries them into the waking world.
There, he finds children and mothers whose days have felt too big, too loud, or too heavy.
He does not speak. He simply leaves a small, smooth pebble nearby — on a windowsill, beside a bed, or tucked into a pocket.
When it is held, the weight of it is just enough to remind them to slow down. To breathe. To be still, even for a moment.
Pebble Bear is the guardian of comfort.
He knows that not everything needs to be fixed, and not every feeling needs to be hurried away.
Some things only need to be held, gently, until they soften.
And if you ever find a small, smooth stone where you don’t remember leaving one, you may not have found it by accident.
